Adams is a company who pride themselves on their technical approach to golf club design. Their Tight Lies fairway wood was one of the single best selling golf clubs in history and they continue to push forward with new developments.

And that is exactly what makes the Ovation driver so disappointing. The Ovation is a driver that seems like it was just thrown together for the sake of having one. It is a 460 cc titanium head with some tungsten weighting to produce a slightly higher ball flight. The driver comes stock with and Aldila Ovation shaft, easily the best part of this driver.

Although it is part of the same family as the Ovation fairway wood, the driver looks and plays nothing like it. It is a deep-face design with a mid-trajectory ball flight. Even at 460 cc’s the Ovation doesn’t come close to matching the forgiveness of other Adams offerings like the Redline RPM or the 460 Dual although the price tag is a little nicer. The one saving grace for the Ovation is that it is one of the few drivers (and the only 460 cc model) that is available with an offset head. It is unfortunate considering how well the fairway woods tested that the driver just couldn’t live up to the Ovation name.
