We’ve been talking about these for a few weeks but Ping has now officially announced that its new Rapture line of golf clubs will begin shipping on September 1st. The Rapture series is going to be a premium priced product designed to compete with the TaylorMade R7 and Callaway Fusion lines.

The Rapture Driver is a 460 cc head with a composite crown that allows Ping to reposition 20 grams of weight for a higher launch with less spin. The driver has a MSRP of $475 and has already been put in play by Bubba Watson among others.

The Rapture Fairway is a full titanium head designed for distance, forgiveness, and a high ball flight. It will be available in 14, 17, and 20 degrees and has a MSRP of $350.

Rapture Hybrid looks very similar to Ping’s G5 hybrid but features some new materials for exceptional performance. The head is constructed with 17-4 stainless steel and a tungsten nickel alloy for the sole piece. This moves the center of gravity lower in the head. The face of the Rapture Hybrid is made with a hot “475 super steel”. MSRP on this club is $225 and it will come in 18, 21, and 24 degree heads.

The Rapture Irons again look similar to the G5 series but feature some new materials. The Rapture Irons have a stainless steel head and a titanium face. The lightweight titanium allows Ping to reposition more weight around the perimeter of the golf club. Tungsten weights are added to the toe of the club to help square the face at impact. MSRP is $1300 in graphite or $1120 in the CS Lite steel shaft.

All Rapture clubs will come standard with Ping Golf’s new TFC 909 graphite shafts.

Also new for Ping will be the S58 iron, iWedge, Redwood Putter, and JAS Craz-E One. The S58 iron will replace the current S59 as Ping’s players club. This club is almost blade-like in appearance but will produce a slightly higher launch angle than the S59. The iWedge is more of a cavity back wedge than Ping’s current offerings and will be available in a number of lofts. The new Craz-E putter is a black aluminum head with tungsten heel and toe weights. All of these clubs will start shipping out in September.

The Redwood Putter will be Ping’s entry into the high-end putter market. The putter is available in Anser, Zing, and Piper models and is a precision milled 303 Stainless Steel. These will start shipping in December.
