Hey everyone, and thanks for stopping by.  After having a peak onto the USGA list of conforming clubs this morning, I noticed some very interesting additions.  Amongst others, Mizuno, Bridgestone, Macgregor and also Maruman Golf all were having some new driver models tested.  One thing to keep in mind about these clubs is that sometimes these clubs make it to market, other times not.  So you never know what you're going to get.  Regardless, here is what we do know...

Cleveland Halo HybridGood morning everyone! We recently had a question from a reader in regards to the stock graphite shaft in the Cleveland Halo hybrid. He loves his Halo and wants to get a similar shaft in some of his other clubs but couldn't find much info on the stock shaft. We took his question to Cleveland Golf and got a pretty good response....

The graphite shaft used in the Halo was a proprietary shaft designed specifically for that club. The Halo ActionLite shaft is very butt stiff and tip weak with the S flex having bending tip flex code of 9832. In terms of current hybrid shaft offerings in the market the Miyazaki C. Kua 59X with a flex code of 8844 has a very similar EI profile and would play comparably. For a full set of irons there aren't a lot of graphite aftermarket offerings with this profile but the ProLaunch Blue X at 7612 would probably be the closest option that is readily available.

Thanks to Keith at Cleveland Golf for his help! Have a question? Drop us a line at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we'll do our best to get you an answer!

mizuno cross eight 2011 ball pictures 501Mizuno is launching their all new 5-piece golf ball, the next generation of the Cross Eight ball on September 10th. Fresh off the success of their first ever professional win with their golf ball, when Japanese Ladies Tour star Ajane Iijima won using the Mizuno MP-801X ball in June.  This new golf ball the Cross Eight 501 will feature a 5-piece construction that claims to be soft and responsive for short, slower swing speed shots, and deep off the tee. The balls core progresses from soft to hard from the inside out to create a ball that spins less on tee shots thanks to higher swing speeds activating the inner, softer cores - to a ball that will zip on the greens due to the harder mantle and outer cover.

The distance comes from the compression of the cool cross ribbed inner core on impact, and a high COR.  Several Mizuno pros are already playing this ball, keep an eye out for these this fall.  Take a look at the core section below:

Charles Howell approached the 18th tee, on the 72nd hole of the 2005 Buick Invitational needing an eagle 3 to get into a playoff with Tiger Woods. From about 100 yards away, Charles struck his 3rd shot perfectly, the ball soared through the sky and landed in the cup… only to bounce backwards and spin into the nearby water.

A collection of new clubs was recently launched for Maruman Golf, Wilson and Rife. Maruman a manufacturer of ultra high-end golf clubs, recently released their new Vanquish VR Driver, Fairway Woods, Hybrids and Irons. Wilson Golf has launched their new iron line for 2011 with the Di11 irons, designed specifically for players who want more distance – “these irons not only meets these needs, they exceed them.” Rife Putters recently announced the introduction of four highly anticipated new putters for the Island Series.
