Happy Monday everyone.  It’s finally starting to look like spring here in New York, however SirShanks is still stuck back in snow-locked Canada.  I’ll be hitting some balls in your honor old friend.  Anyway, time to get to the news, we’ve got a bunch of rumours and news to share with you today, so let’s get to it.

phrakenwood First, we’ll start with the news, Titleist will be releasing their 712U Forged utility iron to the public starting May 15th.  These irons created quite a buzz with tour professionals who just couldn’t get used to a hybrid design. Offered in 2-iron (18º), 3-iron (21º) and 4-iron (24º) lofts, these irons are going to retail around $195 for steel.

Callaway has taken a page out of TaylorMade’s “naming” playbook, with a new driver that Phil Michelson’s been gaming. This driver, is called the ‘Phrakenwood’. No joke.  The USGA has tested and approved a left-handed model only. Go figure.

Next up from Titleist, we got some rumours of an upcoming iron line to follow the incredibly successful 712 AP1 and AP2 line. Titleist should be releasing the 714 Ap2’s later this year.  These new irons are said to be an improvement on the 712, with added cosmetic and playability changes.  We also expect to see new 714 CB and MB irons as well, but no news has surface on the changes made to these lines.

Ping will be releasing the S55 iron line to the pros likely in the summer.  No new details on these irons yet, but we’ll keep you posted.

KBS will also be releasing a new KBS Tour V2 Shaft. Again, from a request by Phil Mickelson this new shaft is said to have the KBS feel with a C-Taper flight pattern.

That’s all for now. Have a good week everyone!
